4/8/08 Hernan is coming to Texas
again next week for some duo concerts

Jacob, Hernan and I just laid down some pretty rocking tracks
in Phoenix for a future Brainkiller Trio release. As always,

10/5/07 Hernan and I finished our
CD last week at the end of the tour
and we're pretty pumped about it. Lots of other cool things
(tours, CDs) are in the works for the fall and spring. Stay
tuned!
8/12/07 Hernan Hecht and I just
recorded a bunch of music in Mexico
City. We're putting some things together for a CD release in
early September, in time for our southwestern tour! This will
be the first time we've played in the U.S. Check out our duo page
with MP3s and other crucial info.
I'm thrilled to announce that Abrazo
has received a grant from
Meet the Composer's MetLife Creative Connections Program to
host San Francisco composer Dominique Leone in a series of
events with the Brazosport community this October. Abrazo is a
locally based organization that I began in 2000 to help
facilitate musical performance and educational events here.
We've had dozens of guest artists and clinicians interacting
with the Brazosport community over the years.

Leone and our organization in the near future.

Texas Tech University Jazz
Ensemble - Glimmer of Night and Day.
My composition "Glimmer" is the first track and snippets of my
arrangement of Thelonious Monk's "Well You Needn't" appear on
the track "Weather You Needn't".
I just had a premiere of a new piece, "Seen and Unseen,"
commissioned by Esther Baeza for trumpet quintet, at the Texas
Tech Band and Orchestra Camp.
August will see the premiere of some new Jimi Hendrix
arrangements for the Low Frequency Tuba Band at the Jazz in
August Festival in Lisbon, Portugal. for more info:

I'm off this Saturday to Mexico City to play some gigs and
record some duo music with Hernan Hecht.
We hope to have a new
recording for our US tour in September.

I had a recent premiere of
a trombone and trumpet duo called
"Running as Root", commissioned by Don Lucas (Boston
University Professor of Trombone) and performed this week by
Don and Jon Lewis (LA-based trumpet studio phenom on Matrix
soundtracks, etc.) Don reports over 800 enthusiastic people in
attendance for the special concert at his old high school in
Falls Church, Virginia. I hope to have a recording of this
soon.
Several gigs, tours and recordings planned this summer and fall
on the west coast, southwest and Mexico with Brainkiller,
Hernan Hecht, and Dominique Leone. Watch out!
5/8/07 I just uploaded the film,
music and program notes to "for" a
new composition for wind ensemble and film, performed by the
Brazoswood HS Symphonic Band. Check out the recent Rubber Band

Check out the MP3 for "SLAB" a new composition for beginning
band, played by the Rasco Middle School and being played by the
combined Rasco/Clute Middle Schools at the Band O Rama May 17.

June 15 will be the CD release gig by the Creative Opportunity
Orchestra in Austin. I will have a composition entitled

2/1/07 "Six Years L8R" is here!
Produced for the occasion of my
Mexico trip, it is my new solo CD with all amplified trombone.
That means sticking a tiny mic into places I didn't know
existed inside a trombone and hearing a completely new world of
sound. Each CD is hand designed and assembled by me. See
"Recordings" for more info. At this time, it is only available
here.
12/31/06 I'm headed to Merida,
Mexico tomorrow and really excited about
this quartet and a new batch of music and ideas. Today I found
a new review of "Synapse" in the All About Jazz January 2007 NY
Newspaper (see my press page) and I'm excited about that. I
added a Synapse MP3 to audio. You can also purchase Synapse
through JazzLoft (see my recordings page)in addition to
Downtown Music Gallery, CDBaby and right here.
I've been making these little books called UC?UC (see picture one
+ picture
two) of my drawings for
friends and folks that
helped make Synapse a reality. I also update the photos and
artwork page quite a bit, especially the photos page. In
general, I'm always messing with stuff on the whole site and
expect to have some new Mp3s (maybe videos, too) after I get
back in January.
I have a new solo trombone CD called "six years L8R" that will
also be available then. It is all amplified acoustic trombone.
There are some neat sounds and unique original packaging. I
will have more details soon. Happy New Year!!
9/3/06 I have a piece selected
for performance in the VoxNovus 60X60
project, which is an hour long piece featuring sixty different
composers each with a minute of music. The first premiere is
at the Electronic Music Midwest (EMM) festival at Lewis
University, Thursday, October 12. My piece is called "ondre"
and is a piece for solo trombone. Here
are the program notes.
7/25/06 I have been awarded a
grant from Meet the Composer Global
Connections!!! This is for me to work with musicians in
Merida, Yucatan, Mexico for a week!! This should be in January
2007. More details soon.
